One of the perks of spending time and her grandparents is the grand expanse of carpeting which is much more forgiving to the novice walker/crawler than the hardwood floors at home. In order to hone her climbing skills Annah wasted little time in attacking the stairs.

More Clapping....

Now that she is an intermediate to advanced clapper Annah likes to sit in her playpen, look at me and clap constantly for no apparent reason. It's really strange having someone applauding you when you haven't done anything the least bit funny or entertaining. Now I know how what Bob Hope must have felt.

Day two of being a clapper and Annah is finding all kinds of practical applications.  Today we were at Maya's violin lesson and her teacher began clapping out a beat, Annah immediately jumped into action and joined in the clapping.  If you are clapper and you spot a need for clapping you do the one thing you know you can do - you clap.

Annah started clapping tonight and after she clapped once, she clapped again. Now she claps for just about everything. It's really nice having this kind of positive re-enforcement in the house - no matter what you do, you will be applauded.

Annah doesn't seem particularly interested in this book, but then a book that has a sheep's head glued in the middle of it may suggest a narrative that has a hard time standing on its own merit.

Ear Infection

Annah had her checkup yesterday and she still has a small ear infection so she is back on the antibiotics until it gets cleared up. Her next checkup is after Christmas so hopefully she'll have this think licked by then. She took her flu booster shot with not too much screaming.

Trash Can

Annah was in our bedroom playing on the bed the other day when for a brief moment Maya thought I was watching her and I thought Maya was watching her. In this short time she crawled over to the side of the bed, tried reaching for something on the nightstand, flipped off the bed and landed headfirst in the trash can. Fortunately her fall was broken by a bunch of old diapers and other miscellaneous trash. We puller her out, wiped off the tea grounds out of her hair and she was good as new.

This is Annah in the pen - the place she goes when her behavior becomes unmanageable. It's mainly designed as a form of punishment more so than any kind of rehabilitation, she's not going to leave with her GED or anything.

Shopping for Winter wear

We were out an about on Saturday shopping for winter clothing. Zaheeda picked up a few things and Annah got this new hat with matching mittens.

Annah is making the slow and gradual transition from squirming around to crawling around. This afternoon she pulled herself up on her hands and knees, held the pose for a considerable amount of time, gazed about the room with a look of earnest intent, as if to say, "I'm up! Now it's merely a question of where do I want to go?"

I was putting new strings on Maya's violin this afternoon when I realized I needed some peg paste so I bundled up my junior associate and off we went to the music store in Highland.

Poop

While we were at the book signing this afternoon Annah and Zaheeda went next door to do some shopping at Southdale Mall. What seemed like a good idea went bad in a hurry when nature called and Annah answered. She made a mess all over her clothes carrying harness, everything... Zaheeda didn't have a change of clothes so she bought her a new outfit, cleaned her up and put the soiled stuff in the shopping bag. Recently Annah has taken up eating solids and the night before she had the Gerber prunes. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out the cause and effect of this incident.

Annah went in for her six month checkup and shots this morning. She has a small ear infection and needs to start putting on some weight, but other than that she's fit as a fiddle.

Annah finally slept through the night last night. For the last week she has been getting up about every hour on the hour to eat which means Zaheeda is up every hour on the hour. Granted I usually sleep through all that but them I'm stuck dealing with a less that pleasant wife the next day - it's like the trickle down theory of family harmony - we all eventually have to pay a price. We figured part of the problem was that she's been struggling with this little cold, so we put the vaporizer next to her crib and apparently that did the trick. She slept!
